Akron/Family are four extremely nice, sincere and well-mannered young men from rural America who came to NYC in 2002 to make music, hoping to find a thread of real magic still winding through this city's music scene. They certainly did just that, but they did it by retreating into a tiny Brooklyn apartment, where they made their own world instead, in complete and stubborn isolation. They proceeded (while simultaneously growing alarmingly long beards and developing a playful but hermetic quasi-religious/sonic worldview/creed known as "AK" or sometimes "AK-AK") to make several albums worth of recordings on crude home equipment--the material compulsively chopped, spliced, and orchestrated into fractal jewels of song and schismatically opposed atmospheres. Deleted Scenes is a four-piece pop band from Mount Pleasant, Washington DC.

The Milwaukees in DC

Where: The Red & The Black

Date: 2008-02-13 21:00:00

The Milwaukees bring their American Anthems to the nation's capital. “An album that’s as imposing as its title suggests. Borne from the band’s enduring road-warrior reputation, it retains the brash swagger of their three previous efforts. However, it also finds a hint of wistful nostalgia, culled from musical snapshots of people and places they’ve encountered in their journeys.” - Performing Songwriter “I was completely blown away. The Milwaukees are a rarity in the modern music scene, a genuine rock and roll band. American Anthems is the band's latest, and easily one of the best records of the year. ... The must-have CD of 2007.” - Blogcritics.com “Crunchy guitars, great hooks, and an obvious level of confidence make this a fine record.” - Vintage Guitar “No-frills, open-road guitar rock about dreams chased and innocence lost, performed with gutsy emotion and abundant hooks.” - Milwaukee Shepherd-Express

With friends from across the pond...or at least with a fake British accent: The regal pomposity of Dr. Donut, the bawdy, nearly Oxford-educated brains of Dr. Lukki, a swinging 60's London soundtrack by Momo Taro and more Benny Hill references than you could fill a pint glass with! Don't be late...it's considered rude in certain parts of the world, you know.
