The Lakeshore Theater is preparing for a full-scale invasion by English comedy forces. NBC’s Last Comic Standing finalist Matt Kirshen and veteran comedian, Canadian Mike MacDonald will team up for seven unique performances between February 7-16, 2008. The Callow Brit - Twenty-something Matt Kirshen brings his fresh perspective direct from London to the Lakeshore stage. Matt's precision wit earned him a slot last year in the top ten of NBC’s Last Comic Standing. The British comic’s engagingly impish style is shot through with an intelligent and skillful talent that belies his boyish appearance, making him a firm favorite with audiences and fellow comedians alike. The Grizzled Canuck - Mike MacDonald is one of the best-loved veterans of the North American comedy circuit. Over the past thirty years, in addition to hosting his own CBC series and decades of legendary live performances, Mike has appeared on Letterman and The A List, Comedy Central, as well as five (count ‘em) 5 Showtime Specials! Mike also holds the distinction of being the ONLY comedian to perform at each and every Montreal Just For Laughs festival ever held. Don’t miss this living comedy legend, Canada’s comedic equivalent of a fine wine that just keeps getting better with age. Opening for the British dynamic duo is Hannibal Burress on February 15-17 only. Hannibal’s brilliantly sarcastic observations and pigeon-kicking attitude earned him the mantel of TimeOut’s “Funniest Person in Chicago” contest in 2007. On the national front, he was a top contestant on Comedy Central’s Open Mic Fight as well as a featured guest on CBS’s Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. Robert Hines takes the stage February 8-9 only. Robert is a veteran of Comedy Central’s Comic Justice, NBC’s Uptown Comedy Club and BET’s Comic View (for which he earned the coveted Sammy Davis, Jr. musical comedy award). Robert has also toured with the Laugh Fest Comedy College Tour and will soon appear in the titular role of the upcoming indie comedy, Chasing Robert that also stars Andy Dick, Larry Miller and comedy legend, the late Richard Jeni. Crowned “Best Place to See Comedy in Chicago” by Chicago magazine, the Lakeshore Theater boasts a heady, year-round roster of performances by an eclectic mix of established stars, underground heroes and left-field geniuses. Friendly service and reasonable ticket prices help add up to a consistently amazing entertainment experience. Mike MacDonald and Matt Kirshen will be at the Lakeshore Theater, 3175 N. Broadway in Chicago, on Friday, February 8 at 8 PM, Saturday, February 9 at 7:30 PM, Friday, February 15 at 8 PM, Saturday, February 16 at 7:30 PM and Sunday, February 17 at 8 PM.
