Join your San Francisco Giants as they celebrate the start of the 2008 season and their 50th anniversary at the annual Play Ball Lunch, benefiting the Giants Community Fund and their flagship program, Junior Giants baseball. Presented by Blue Shield of California, the event welcomes over 1,000 fans, alumni, broadcasters, and executives, and invites Junior Giants players from leagues across the Bay Area to walk in with their favorite major leaguer and sit with them for the luncheon. The event includes a reception with the team and a silent auction. Junior Giants baseball is a noncompetitive summer baseball league offered free to kids in inner cities and rural communities across Northern California, Nevada, and Oregon. To date, there are over 14,800 youth participating in the program - nearly 4,000 of which are girls.
