Born Maya Arulpragasam in Sri Lanka, M.I.A. moved to London at 11, and over time she developed her musical tastes within rap, electronica, reggae, pop and hip-hop circles. She sent out shockwaves with her singles 'Galang' and 'Sunshowers' along with her mixtape collaboration with Diplo 'Piracy Funds Terrorism.' Her debut album 'Arular,' capitalized on her mongrel mix of hip-hop, ragga, dancehall, electro and pop alongside uncompromising, spitting lyrics.

The Kills consist of VV and Hotel. These two have been making music since 2002 and doing a lot of home recordings where they live in the UK. With a serious knack for doing great raw recordings, narcotic and saccharine - the drums alone will pull you in. The strong female presence evokes comparison to Chrissie Hynde and Patti Smith, while the male vocals charm those that know the sounds of Lou Reed and The Velvet Underground.
