Recognized for powerful and precise drumming, Farafina Kan performs The Sound of Africa Unplugged. This electrifying display featuring music and dance of West Africa’s Mandique people explores what makes up the company. Farafina Kan is a unique collection of artists whose individual and collective goal is to be the best at what they do. The trilogy is comprised of the Farafina Musso (women) who sing, dance and play accessory instruments; the Dunun Section (affectionately known as the Dogpound by its members) who provide the musical foundation and the Djembe Section, the front line of the orchestra that provides the musical flair. Unlike most traditional African dance companies, Farafina Kan presents traditional African music and dance in big band style that maintains the integrity of the art while keeping it continuously funky!
