Every Saturday morning, people from the Grex online community gather for a 75-90 minute walk, followed by lunch at a local eatery. Not all walkers are Grex users; we have regular attendance from friends, children, and pets. Sometimes complete strangers join us as well. Anybody is welcome. See the "Grexwalk Lunch" event for the location of this week's lunch. On every Saturday EXCEPT the first Saturday of each month, the walk is at Gallup Park. Meet by the parking lot near the Fuller Road entrance. On first Saturdays, we walk at Bird Hills Park.

What most people think of when they see Dustin Diamond, the actor, is nerdy Screech Powers from TV’s super sit-com “Saved By The Bell” with tightly curled hair and a penchant for ant farms and Lisa Turtle. What lots of people think of when they see Dustin Diamond, the comic, is a funny guy who pokes fun at "Saved by the Bell," society and spouts off his fair share of potty jokes. Diamond admits that he did things a little backward. While most comics do stand-up and hope for a TV show, he delved into stand-up after establishing himself as a television and film actor. Since the conclusion of "Saved by the Bell," Diamond has appeared on many TV shows and even done some movies. With all his antics in the past couple of years (save Screech’s House T-Shirts and the alleged “sex tape”) we are sure that he will have plenty to say from the stage. Don’t miss this pop culture icon this week at the Comedy Showcase.

Update: I'd like to host and run a new pervasive urban game called Cruel 2 B Kind in Ann Arbor Friday afternoon after work. We can all go out for bi bim bap or whatever afterwards. Details soon! More game info: http://cruelgame.com/ I'll be in Ann Arbor the first weekend in June. The UM Alumni Association is having a retreat for regional club leaders. Would love to have bi bim bap somewhere/sometime with any interested folks while I'm there. A walking tour around campus and Kerrytown area might also be nice. After Kristin Hersh's half a dozen brilliant solo albums, says Interview, "years of innovating in her direct, intense, riff-driven way have earned ex-Throwing Muse Hersh goddess status." Even during her years with alternative rock's Throwing Muses, Kristin Hersh was a songwriter at heart. Just listen to her sing about "a man made of butterfat/Careening around on a Sno-Cat" in the leadoff song on her album "The Grotto." Hersh comes to town with a new album, "Learn to Sing Like a Star," that features unusual violin and cello textures. This evening's special guest is Troy Campbell, who has been a restless innovator as well going all the way back to his years with the pioneering Texas Americana band the Loose Diamonds.

Josh Sneed is quickly making his mark as one of the top young comics in the business, and for the purpose of this bio, has become skilled in the art of writing in the third person. After quitting a comfy day job working for Procter & Gamble, he’s made excellent strides in following his passion for making people laugh. He’s opened for such acts as Dave Chappelle, Dane Cook, and Lewis Black. Most recently, Josh finished 2nd out of 100 of Comedy Central’s top comedians in the Annual Stand-up Showdown, earning him a deal to record a new album on Comedy Central Records. In 2006, Josh filmed a 30-minute special, “Comedy Central Presents: Josh Sneed” that debuted in March 2007 and is currently re-airing. In November of 2006, Josh placed 6th in the Sierra Mist/MySpace Stand-up or Sit Down Challenge out of over 2,000 entrants. Finishing high in competitions is nothing new to Josh. In 4th grade he earned a blue ribbon for throwing a softball through a tire. In 2004, he performed at the Just For Laugh's Montreal Comedy Festival in the "New Faces of Comedy" group, one of the highest honors that a comedian at his level can achieve. Josh has also be seen performing in large venue theaters across the country as an opening act for the various members of "The Blue Collar Comedy Tour", and has made several appearances on "The Bob & Tom Show”.
