From the Green City Blue Lake website's explanation of the inaugural cafe: "Based on the European salon model, science cafés are informal events where scientists share their work with the public in a casual setting. Cafés enjoy tremendous success around the world—the public is genuinely interested in learning about current research. Don't hesitate to take advantage of this unique opportunity that Cleveland now has to offer." The topic for this event will be stem cell research. Also, based on the how the event ran in April: "Light appetizers will be available, as well as a cash bar. RSVPs are not required, however the cafe will likely maximize between 30-40 people."

Malls B&C on Lakeside Ave. in Downtown Cleveland 10 am to midnight Parade: 1pm This is an event Julia de Burgos Cultural Arts Center organizes to showcase the customs and traditions of the Puerto Rican people in Cleveland. This is (usually) a three-day celebration usually kicks off in the month of July and is the single most important summer cultural event highlighting the culture, folklore of Hispanics in the Northeast Ohio region. The event is hosted at the city of Cleveland Municipal parking area located on East 9th Street. The parade is conducted on the last day of the event which is on Sunday, displaying floats from agencies and social clubs from the community. The Puerto Rican Cultural Festival and Parade contributes to the revitalization of our neighborhoods, the downtown district and to Cleveland’s diversity. The festival is free to the public, however, as a way to generate funds, Julia de Burgos Cultural Arts Center sells booths to those interested. At these booths the vendors can sell food, souvenirs, novelty items, etc. Financial assistance from the city of Cleveland, private sponsors and support of other non-profit agencies assist us to put together a safe, educational entertaining event. The festival and the parade is very colorful, very festive and full of splendor. It is a mixture of exquisite Caribbean food, traditional native art, hot rhythmic live music and a very tropical friendly atmosphere. Come join us to experience a blast of hispanic culture and enjoy hispanic heritage through our food, music and above all our people.
