Join, renew, or upgrade, your support for the public radio station you love! Here at WUWM1 and WUWM2, we carry all of your favorite types of programs–news and information, music, and entertainment. WUWM depends on support from its listeners. More than 85% of the station’s operating budget comes from the community. Although WUWM’s March on-air fund drive raised $212,321 – a record for a spring WUWM on-air drive – the station still needs to raise $107,679 to reach the $320,000 goal for on-air fund raising. When we reach the goal, we will stop the drive. Funds raised during the drive go toward programming fees so the station may air programs including, Morning Edition, All Things Considered, This American Life, and A Prairie Home Companion, as well as cover operating costs for both of its stations – WUWM HD-1: In-depth news and its secondary audio channel, WUWM HD-2: The Deuce, Today’s Music…All Grown-up. Listeners and donors don’t need to wait until May 7th to show their support. On May 1st, WUWM will hold a Cyberday, a 1-day internet drive. All donations given on-line that day will decrease the total amount needed and will help end the fund drive early. WUWM will also offer several incentives and contests during the drive. To learn more, visit www.wuwm.com during the drive. WUWM offers several membership gift levels but any amount is welcomed; WUWM makes it easy to give with different payment options: check, credit card, automatic quarterly installments, or monthly sustaining installments. Make the contribution go farther using the Employer Matching Gift program (check with employer’s human resource department verify eligibility.) And, WUWM memberships make great gifts. Listeners and donors can make their tax-deductible contributions at any time by calling the WUWM hotline at 414-270-1225 or give online at www.wuwm.com. During the Fund Drive, make your donation by calling 414-227-3210. Give generously. We appreciate your support! Thank you.

Pete Yorn, Kicking K8

Where: Rave/Eagles Ballroom

Date: 2007-08-18 20:00:00

Type:

Much of Pete Yorn's appeal is his down-to-earth vibe: He's cool enough for the indie crowd, tuneful enough for more mature listeners and he rocks enough to keep things interesting. His lyrics are clever but not cute and his voice conveys an earnest quality that never sounds forced or canned. A Sacramento based band, loosely following the footsteps of Sacto locals Deftones and Far with modern rock and eastern flavor. Melody meets heavily driven guitars while clarity echoes from the rim of deep sturdy tempos. Professionally gigging the Sacramento region and surrounding areas since 2003.

The only requirements are to have a camera (film, digital, SLR, DSLR, point and shoot, phone, disposable, new, used, etc), a good pair of shoes for walking, and come have a good time! Right now, things are tenatively planned for meeting at Marquette University, and photographing some of the buildings and structures there. The time and even the location may change, but the day is firm as March 15th, 2008. Please check back as it gets closer and also to check the forum on Flickr linked below.
