Dev House Boston is a fairly new event giving programmers and designers the opportunity to hack out something cool, in a day, and present it to lots of interested people. Inspired by Super Happy Dev House and Mash Pit, we aim to bring creative people together for one super-productive day. You can bring a team or find one. You can bring an idea or invent one. And at the end of the day -- whether you've got working code, page mockups, or just an elevator pitch -- you'll share your work with a group of people who know where you're coming from. Attendees will meet up at the Andala Coffee House and then be redirected (a very short walk) to the actual location. Please sign up on our wiki (link below) and list your geeky skill set.

the critique of pure reason presents julie doiron calvin johnson 8:30pm, all ages, $10, no booze! Julie Doiron joined the band Eric's Trip at age 18. Shortly before the band's break-up in 1996, she released a solo album under the name Broken Girl, which followed two previous 7" EPs under that name. All of her subsequent material, however, has been released under her own name. In 1999, Doiron recorded an album with the Ottawa band Wooden Stars, which was the first time she had worked with a band since the end of Eric's Trip. She was honoured with a Juno Award for Julie Doiron and the Wooden Stars in March of 2000. She has appeared as a guest musician on albums by The Tragically Hip, Gordon Downie, and Herman Dune, and has also released a split record co-credited to the alternative country band Okkervil River. She also plays with indie rock band Shotgun & Jaybird. Although most of her solo material has been written and performed in English, she has also released an album of French language material, Désormais. Her most recent album is Woke Myself Up (Jagjaguwar, 2007). Calvin Johnson is a guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, music producer, and disc jockey born in Olympia, Washington. Known for his uniquely deep, droning singing voice, Johnson was a founding member of the bands Cool Rays, Beat Happening, The Go Team, Dub Narcotic Sound System, and The Halo Benders. Calvin Johnson is also the founder and owner of the influential indie American label K Records, and was one of the major organizers of the seminal International Pop Underground Festival. Johnson has been cited as a major player in the beginning of the modern independent music movement.
